Aims & objectives

The Instant Neighbour Charity was set up in 1984 with a remit to provide work for young unemployed people. It aims to give practical help, advice, and emotional support, to some of the poorest and vulnerable people in Aberdeen. Over the years the Charity has constantly evolved and expanded its services to meet the needs of its clients, and now provides a one-stop-shop bringing all its projects together under one roof, including a drop-in centre with excellent play facilities, interview room, storage, and office facilities.

Job description

Job Activities

Reception Duties

- being the first point of contact to anyone coming to Instant Neighbour

- dealing with telephone calls

- greeting visitors

- dealing with foodbank clients

Admin Duties

- Basic IT skills required to do the following

- Recording weights

- Recording volunteer hours

- Filing

- Assist as required with the input of data for statiscal purposes

- Assist as required with the input of finance and HR records

- To undertake any other duties consistent with the post

- Take responsibility for own performance and contribution

- Attend and contribute at staff meetings

Person specification

Essential

- Good communication skills (verbal and written)

- Confident telephone manner

- Time management skills

- Ability to work independantly and as part of a team

- Good literacy and numeracy skills

DESIRABLE

- Experience in working in an office enviroment

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Excel

Additional information

The successful candidate should be confident around people as the area they will be working in requires them to have interaction with the public, both face to face and on the phone.
