Aims & objectives

PYCP is rooted in the local community and is committed to enabling each young person to realise their unique potential and to take a positive role in society. We provide a range of services and activities for ages 5 to 18, ranging from open access youth clubs to tailored 1:1 and group based support for young people in need. Our work involves 3 broad specialisms with teams of youth work staff who are highly experienced in providing innovative activities and supports for young people. Job description

Particular responsibilities for the post holder will be worked out in negotiation with the Project Workers but will include:

• Building relationships and trust with young people and their families

• Delivering face to face youth work including work with families and one to one support

• Initiating, organising and supervising activities, trips and residentials whilst encouraging engagement

• Engage in active sessions including sports, hill walking, cycling and other outdoor activities

• Deal with challenging or difficult behaviour and situations if they arise (in an appropriate manner)

• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the FACENorth project

• Any other duties as specified by the Project Workers.

Person specification

The post holder will be required to sustain good working relationships and an ability to communicate effectively.

• Knowledge of current youth issues faced by young people in North Edinburgh and local issues that affect their life choices is necessary

• Approachable and able to build relationships

• Flexible with working hours

• Enthusiastic and can show empathy/understanding

• Good communication skills and an ability to work on own initiative
