Job description

Youth charity The Prince's Trust gives practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation. It works with 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or at risk of unemployment through to underachieving in education.

Context of Work

In the UK, currently there are more than 1 million young people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). The Trust works with around 55,000 young people across the UK. The Trust supports young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the regions and countries has a Director who is supported by Regional or Country Councils, which are made up of non-executive volunteers.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Support the delivery of engaging sessions to help young people Live, Learn and Earn. This will include employability sessions and skills development in Confidence, Communication, reliability, Setting and Achieving goals.

2. Assist the delivery of accredited courses and qualification’s supporting young people to attain accreditation.

3. Support session planning and evaluation of courses and activities.

4. Support the Prince’s Trust Executives to provide high quality information, advice and guidance support to young people throughout the programme

5. Support young people to build their Personal Achievement Record, setting goals with young people using a Personal Development Plan

6. Build effective and professional relationships with young people.

7. To assist in the maintenance of accurate and up to date paper and electronic records on young people in line with the Trust’s data protection policy

8. Support with maintaining updated records of kits, equipment and resources.

9. Support the Prince’s Trust Executives to identify appropriate opportunities and strategies with external agencies and assist with the delivery of sessions to enable young people to move on from the programme successfully

10. Comply with The Trust’s polices on the requirements of working with young people. Recruiting Safely, Safeguarding and Health and Safety to ensure their own welfare and promoting a culture of safety and quality within the team

11. Work towards gaining professional qualifications through attendance at internal/external training opportunities and courses.

12. Undertake programme or project work as required by Operations Managers

13. Attend all necessary internal/external meeting as required

14. Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required by The Trust,

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

• An understanding of some the challenges young people within The Trust’s target groups face

• Good planning and organisational skills.

• Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

• Able to work effectively as part of a team

• Able to work independently

Desirable

• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of using email, internal, word processing and spreadsheet packages, accurately with good attention to detail

• Supporting the delivery of a range of activities e.g. Arts, music, media, cooking, STEM

• Supporting the delivery of a range of Adventurous Activities
