Contribute towards the general running and organisation of the Youth Club and its related
Share responsibility for initiating and undertaking projects and activities within the youth work programme which are both fun and educational.
Involve young people in such initiatives ensuring real participation and developing feelings of ownership.
Communicate effectively and develop a rapport with young people.
Encourage a fun, positive, participative, youth-centred atmosphere
Assist young people to express and realise their goals.
Positively challenge oppressive behaviour in young people.
Provide information and support to young people.
Enable young people to work effectively in groups.
Support young people in evaluating youth work activities and the impact of youth work on their development.
Carry out administrative duties, under the direction of the Youth Worker in Charge.
Attend regular staff and supervision meetings outside normal work session.
Take part in relevant youth work training.
Take part in residential or weekend work.
A keen interest in working with young people
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Commitment to equality and challenging all forms of discrimination
Able and willing to work unsociable hours including weekends and holidays
An understanding of the issues facing children and young people from disadvantaged communities
A willingness to undertake essential training in relation to the job as seen priority by the management
Agree to undertake a PVG Check
Additional informationThe successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic for a career in Youth Work and willing to step outside their own comfort zone to encourage youth participation.
