GCVS provides development support, technical and financial assistance, information, advice and training to voluntary organisations and community groups in Greater Glasgow. It represents the views of the voluntary sector, service users and carers to statutory authorities in Community Care Joint Planning. GCVS encourages, facilitates and services networks of voluntary sector agencies in a wide range of issues.

Job description

Main duties - Full Training will be provided.

With Direct supervision from the Line Manager:

•To open and distribute incoming mail to ensure efficient allocation to finance department staff.

•Input data onto spreadsheets

•Input invoices onto spreadsheets and accounting software

•To record and keep cheque register up to date. Complete pay in book accounts for above and record pay-ins in clients cash sheets.

•With regard to appropriate security, to deliver cheques and cash to bank.

•Maintain day to day recording of receipts and payments of external clients. Monthly external bank reconciliations.

•Print out of ‘bought care’ quarterly statement of account.

•To process accurately and properly authorised expenses for external clients.


•Maintain effective filing systems to ensure data can be easily accessed.

•Any other relevant duties as directed by the Finance Coordinator or Finance Manager

Person specification

•Experience of general office duties, e.g. typing, photocopying, dealing with mail.

•A good understanding of Microsoft Office packages especially Word & Excel.

•Time management skills – ability to plan own workload within department deadlines/procedures.

•Good verbal and written communication skills, able to build up a good working relationship with contacts.

•Ability to follow established procedures and pay attention to detail.

•Good numeracy skills.

•Able to work as part of a team.
