Job description

ILM Highland is a social enterprise with charitable status, based in Alness. We currently deliver a range of services across the Highlands that include, housing related services for the elderly and disabled, a Small Works service as well as a reuse and recycling service for waste electrical appliances.

The purpose of the WEEE Recycling Operative role is primarily to provide support in the WEEE Recycling Warehouse. ILM Highland operates a WEEE collection service from all of the local authority amenity sites. The waste is transported back to our warehouse and selected for recycling and reuse. Following rigorous testing the electrical appliances are sold within the ILM Highland shop at low prices to the local community.

Main Duties:

1. To assist in the selection, dismantling and separation of WEEE.

2. To assist in the movement of WEEE on and off site to facilitate recycling.

3. To provide other additional duties as necessary relevant to the role.

Person specification

We are looking for candidates who have the following attributes:

Good initiative with ability to solve basic problems.

Ability to work within a team and on own initiative.

Able to undertake manual handling (Training will be given).

Good communication skills.

Ability to read and write English to a satisfactory standard is necessary.

Interested in practical work and working with hand tools.

Friendly, polite and helpful attitude preferred.

Reliable and trustworthy is essential.

No previous experience is necessary, a willingness and enthusiastic attitude to learn is preferred.
