#TrusteesWeek round-up and podcast

Here we are at the end of #TrusteesWeek - and what a week it has been. We shared a special series of blogs, each full of useful advice. And we added a whole new section on good governance to our website. Add to this all the work that other third sector organisations have been doing, and you have a real treasure trove of resources for everyone to use. I’m quite new to the third sector, so #TrusteesWeek has been great for helping me understand the wide range of work that Trustees do. I’ve captured some of this in a podcast, which you can listen to below. I’m grateful to the four Trustees who took the time to speak to me:
  1. Brian Small from Penumbra
  2. Rebecca Stafford from Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre
  3. Sandy MacDonald from Children 1st
  4. Natalie Toyne from Oak Note Theatre
If, like me, you don't have much experience of charity governance, then the podcast should give you a good overview of what's involved. If, on the other hand, you’re a seasoned pro, it should still have some useful insights. Listening back to what the four Trustees said, a few common themes become clear:
  1. Get involved with a charity that works for a cause you care about
  2. Boards are at their best when they include a diverse range of individuals
  3. It can be challenging work, but it’s the best kind of work - the kind that’s really worth it
And now we sign-off from Trustees' Week 2015. See you again next year!
