Setting the digital agenda for 2018

The need for third sector organisations to forge ahead using digital across all aspects of their organisations has never been so great. Technology continues apace and shows no signs of slowing. So, what do we do? Where do we start and how do we progress? These were questions we attempted to grapple with earlier this week as part of the One Digital programme. An agenda setting unconference we held began to explore and then prioritise the key themes for organisations to focus on over the next 12 months. At the wide ranging event, we discussed issues as diverse as organisational culture, workforce skills, connectivity, digital inclusion, productivity, service design and effective remote working. A more detailed afternoon focused on the areas which the sector really need to get to grips with. Below are the, not so surprising, emergent themes which participants want to share more broadly and make a real difference on:
  • Governance
  • Leadership
  • Culture
  • Connectivity
  • Affordability
  • Open source / open data / collaboration
  • Workforce skills, capacity and capabilities
  • Service design
  • Innovation
  • Risk taking
  • Flexible technology
This may seem like a lengthy list – and we need to prioritise further. This process began in the room last week but we’d really like to hear from others. We’d love you to tell us what you think the priorities for the SCVO @digiscot team and the sector should be in 2018.
