The Registers of Scotland have started a new public Register to hold information about anyone who controls the decisions of owners of tenants (of more than 20 years) of land and property. This is to make it easier to find information not only about ownership of land, but also of who has influence and control over decisions.
A Recorded Person (anyone who is currently registered as the owner or long-term tenant) needs to submit the correct information - if you don't do this by 1st April 2024 you may face a fine.
The Registers of Scotland have a self-assessment tool to help you work out if you need to register. You can also find lots more information on their website.
You can also look at SCVO's information on the Register of Persons with a Controlled Interests in Land which we'll be keeping updated with any more useful information.
