Job description

To build positive relationships with young people aged 5-16 years.

2. Deliver bespoke activities to young people in a setting that will promote inclusiveness interaction and engagement.

3. Work with colleagues, parents/families and stakeholders to assist with the break down of barriers within the community.

4. Actively work with the community to promote and encourage the children to attend

specifically designed services.

5. Support and assist in publicising achievements of the young people and the project.

6. Encourage the involvement of the young people and families in the decision making process and provide quality work that meets and addresses the priorities identified by the young people and their community.

7. Effectively and efficiently monitor and evaluate sessions on a daily basis and or when appropriate.

8. Work collaboratively to build and strengthen partnerships with appropriate agencies

9. As directed provide support to relevant project staff and volunteers

10. Work closely with colleagues and the Senior Development worker to ensure smooth transition between provisions when children are progressing to Youth Services.

The SKY project works with some of the most disadvantaged young people in Kilmarnock, operating primarily in Shortlees which is in the top 5% of the most recent SIMD report. The post will enable the project to deliver additional activities for these young people who are disadvantaged financially, socially and emotionally. This gives the young people opportunities that would not normally be available to them and gives them a safe space in their community and respite from issues they may be facing at home. The project works actively to improve links with the local community and schools.There is no specific educational qualification required and the project aims to recruit people with potential as well as those with relevant experience or qualifications. The project requires people who will embrace the principles and values that the project promotes when working with children and young people some of the qualities are

The tasks undertaken will varying depending upon the needs of the group and children & young person but will at all times be governed by the policies and procedures operated by the project in addition they will undertake associated project admin and assist in fundraising activities for the project. This will include helping to set up and clear away resources, preparing snack, interacting with the children and young people.

As the project delivers after school groups the majority of the time will involved evening involve weekend work. Place of work will be mainly in Shortlees area of Kilmarnock
