Aims & objectives

The project aims to support the development of a sustainable infrastructure to help nurture cycling activity in the Angus region through development of a full time Cycle Hub. This will increase cycling participation in Angus and contribute towards positive environmental improvements as well as improving the health of the local population. In line with national strategy this cycling hub will: - Increase cycling participation, skills and confidence through: A) Organising affordable cycling workshops, maintenance, training, coaching and events including The Angus Cycling Festival. B) Supporting the development of a pathway for local people to start cycling as a means to better health and well-being. C) Providing leadership and coaching qualifications to people in the community to build a pool of qualified community led volunteer leaders and cycling champions to increase cycling activity within Angus. D) Running confidence building sessions for new cyclists of all ages, ladies specific sessions, advocacy and coaching within local schools through the Active Schools network and provision of extra-curricular cycling sessions for young people. E) Providing a social meeting place for people interested in cycling to meet others, develop skills and confidence and generate ideas to help build Cycling infrastructure. F) Helping, Developing & Supporting community led Cycling and Mountain Biking Initiatives and people from a Grass Roots Level. - Provide a paid Turnkey Cycle Coaching Events Service utilising our innovative, locally designed and built portable wooden cycle skills course and provision of coaches and bikes. The service aims to give opportunities to enable the wider population of the UK an avenue to try cycling in a safe, fun, controlled environment. - Increase access to bicycles for all of the Angus population through: A) Provision of affordable access to cycle ownership, hire & servicing. B) Introduction of a bicycle recycling scheme, which will both reduce the amount of waste to landfill and give people in the community an affordable alternative means of getting about. C) Support development of the local cycling infrastructure through close collaboration with local agencies and increasing Cycling facilities, routes, signage and roads infrastructure in Angus. D) Provide community led leadership to support development of cycling across Angus through a collaborative partnership with national and local cycling groups and clubs, the 3rd sector, NHS and local authority to further advance the government’s 2010 Scottish Cycling Action Plan within Angus which has a target of 10% of the population cycling by 2020. E) Encourage a modal shift in the community so that more people travel by bike and as a result reduce carbon emissions and be less reliant on cars. F) Create an online resource of information and a place for the sharing of information in the community. G) Provide Cycling & Mountain Bike Information for Angus and the surrounding area to break down the barriers for the community and visitors to be able to access cycling in the region.

Job description

Angus Cycle Hub CIC is a Social Enterprise that works to develop cycling opportunities and to promote the health, social and environmental benefits of cycling and recycling.

Our organisation re-cycles bicycles collected from recycling centres and donated by the general public and refurbishes them for resale as low cost way for the community to access cycling. In addition we work with local authorities and various partners to offer events and a range of intervention services to help reduce car use and increase health and wellbeing through cycling.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Trainee Online Advertising and Sales Executive. The candidate will work with the development manager and staff to help advertise and market products and services that Angus Cycle Hub CIC offer through a range of online tools.

Working under the development officer and project director the candidate will be expected to investigate, prepare and then enter a range of information on various online tools including Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS), Facebook, Citrus Lime Ecommerce, Twitter, Instagram, Ebay etc.

The range of work includes:

Locating correct product information and preparing bicycle information for sale.

Inputing sales information into online sales recources such as Ebay.

Correctly preparing and inputing product data into an EPOS system.

Preparing and inputting advertisng and social media content.

Working with staff to identify possible sales and advertisng leads and promotions.

Preparing customers orders and dealing with requests.

We seek a dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic candidate with demonstrable experience of working in a sales or advertising background where possible. Experience of working with people in the community and/or other community engagement programmes is desirable. An industry standard qualification or previous experience in Sales and Marketing is desireable but not essential.

Full training will be provided.

A PVG check will be required on appointment.

This is a full-time fixed term position for 1 year with a review after this period.
