The Scottish Youth Parliament is the democratically elected voice of Scotland’s young people. We are a young people’s parliament, designed by young people and led by young people for the benefit of young people. We are committed to ensuring young people are heard by the decision makers of Scotland and we are determined to campaign on the issues which matter most to Scotland’s youth.

Job description

General office administrative support, including:

-Answering the phone and directing enquiries as appropriate

-Auditing stationery and placing stationery orders

-Ensuring that equipment is stored correctly and signed out as required

-Reception duties, keeping the office organised, greeting guests

-General IT support

-Booking travel and accommodation

Supporting the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive

-Planning meetings, arranging travel, some diary management

Supporting SYP Communications

-Monitoring and administering general enquiries and forwarding to appropriate staff

-Monitoring and administering MSYP email accounts

Record and Membership data entry

-Administering the Members and Stakeholder database

-Recording consultation and survey responses

-Maintaining the Scottish Youth Parliament’s Policy Log

Supporting the delivery of SYP Events

-Providing administrative support to the Events Officer, including booking travel, compiling resources, distributing events promotional materials, recording participant registration details and recording feedback following events

- Carrying out events-related research

-Attending SYP events and assisting the Events team to ensure events run smoothly

Person specification

A good standard of education (e.g. National 4s or 5s, Standard Grades or equivalent)

Previous Administration experience

Experience of using Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Flexible approach, with a positive attitude

Friendly, approachable and professional manner
