Aims & objectivesThe Lanarkshire Carers Centre is part of the national network of over 100 independently-managed Carers Centres across the UK currently reaching well over 100,000 carers a year. The centres are part of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers network, which exists to make it easier for carers to cope by providing information, support and practical help to carers. The Trust provides training and support for Carers Centres, as well as raising funds for development work. It also has a range of grant schemes for carers.

• Reception duties, acting as first point of contact for carers and Lanarkshire Carers Centre stakeholders.
• Answering, making and directing telephone calls, including taking and distributing messages.
• Handling enquiries made by carers and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
• Organising, scheduling and managing appointments made by carers with independent practitioners.
• Liaising with newly identified carers, obtaining details about their caring role to help carer support workers identify their support needs and providing them with relevant information on centre services.
• Delegated responsibility for specific work areas and functions within the organisation
• Supporting the planning and delivery of Lanarkshire Carers Centre training programme, working collaboratively with all relevant staff to facilitate this.
• Organising and coordinating bookings for meetings, training and events.
• Ordering office supplies and catering requirements for activities and events.
• Administering the Carer Registration Card Scheme.
• Administering fundraising initiatives for Lanarkshire Carers Centre
• Update carers records on Carers Information System
• Accurately recording, updating and maintaining information held in Lanarkshire Carers Centre’s electronic and paper storage systems.
• Recording, sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
• Photocopying, scanning and faxing.
• Keeping the office area neat and tidy, adhering to clear desk and Health and Safety policies.
• Supporting and actively participating in the delivery of centre services, representing the centre as and when required.
• Engaging with the volunteer team to support the day to day operation of the centre.
• Other duties appropriate to the nature of the role.

Previous experience in one or more of the following is beneficial, however the successful candidate can be supported by Lanarkshire Carers Centre to develop the skills and abilities required to work in a busy office environment:
*A relevant qualification in Administration or transferrable skills.
*Experience responding to queries and problem solving.
*Experience using computerised information systems/databases.
*Experience setting up and maintaining manual and electronic filing systems.
*Experience administering and planning the delivery of training courses and events.
*Diary management and appointment booking using manual and computerised systems.
*Administration and clerical support.
*A working knowledge of relevant software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
*Good literacy and numeracy skills.
*Accurate keyboard skills.
*Attention to detail.
*Proficient use of email and the internet.
