DD8 Music is a formally constituted not-for-profit community group, formed in 2005 by a keen group of young musicians in the Angus town of Kirriemuir. The group was initially formed to address the lack of any opportunities for young people to express themselves musically in the town. The group is currently run by a dedicated team of volunteers. We aim to involve young people at all levels, including participation in the organisation of events and also in positions of responsibility, for example, as posts on the committee. The work of the group supports the Angus Community Planning Vision of “Angus is a place where a first class quality of life can be enjoyed by all” and links closely with the Scottish Government’s new Economic priorities relating to skills and investing in communities. In line with this vision DD8 Music supports the education of young people, reduction of social isolation through increased participation and the economy as a whole through increased services.
