Get on board with Get Online Week

Do you want to engage with new audiences or get more people through your doors? Want to approach new partners? Or just give your existing digital inclusion projects a boost?  Then you need to get involved with this year’s Get Online Week campaign. This year it takes place on 13-19 October and will aim to inspire thousands of people to get online and discover what the internet can do for them. Whether you want to get a job, get healthy, get connected or bag a bargain, getting online could help you do it. But there are still 9.5 million people in the UK who don’t have the basic online skills. During Get Online Week events will give everyone get a helping hand to get to grips with the internet once and for all - whatever their level of skill or confidence. Hundreds of events will take place right across the UK during October - in post offices, mosques, cafes, community centres, supermarkets and town halls - challenging people to find out how getting online might improve everyday life. Get Online Week is run by Tinder Foundation, the organisation behind the national network of UK online centres. While many event holders are UK online centres themselves, anyone can take part as long as they can reach out to new people out and about in their community, and spread the get online message. We are working very closely with SCVO, who are doing a fantastic job of leading digital participation in Scotland, and we’re anxious to get Scottish Get Online Week events off the ground. Event holders will receive a marketing pack of posters and leaflets to help advertise in their local area. Packs will be issued on a first come first served basis.  However, those who aren’t in time to secure one can use all the downloadable marketing materials and guides available online. This year, Get Online Week is getting personal, with the local marketing packs and PR featuring real-life learners telling their stories about getting online. We hope that by telling the stories and experiences of real people we can encourage others to follow in their footsteps. If you think you could take part in the biggest digital inclusion campaign of the year, we’d love to have you on board. Find out more about the campaign, and sign up to take part.
