Let's Get On is on the Road!

The Easter Bunny has been, spring has well and truly arrived and the Let’s Get On roadshow is up and running. On a bright and sunny morning  Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities Keith Brown came along to Lidl in Dalry in Edinburgh to launch the initiative.  “We want everyone in Scotland to enjoy the benefits of being online”, he said. “ The Let’s Get On road show will get into the very heart of communities across Scotland, offering people the opportunity to take the first step in getting online and highlighting the many benefits.” And it will.  The teams are visiting 75 towns and cities from now till 8 May offering free, informal, drop-in sessions on how to get online and the benefits the internet can bring.  With a variety of locations ranging from supermarkets to shopping centres to sports clubs, from post offices to job centres, our aim is to meet and greet people in familiar places. Singer and newspaper columnist  Michelle McManus is an avid fan of the internet and she’s helping us spread the word.  “I couldn’t live without the internet”, she says.  “I set up Skype on my parent’s television and they use it to keep in touch with me, wherever I might be, and our family in Canada and Australia. There are so many great benefits to being online. It makes my life easier and saves time with banking and shopping. I would recommend anyone who isn’t online or needs help getting online to head along to your local Let’s Get On session.” This first week of roadshow activity has gone well and we’re hoping for great turnouts as we move around the country.  Check out our website www.letsgeton.scot for more information about the roadshow and the whole campaign.
