Career opportunities in advocacy

Advocacy services form a huge part of the work of the charity and voluntary sector in Scotland accounting for a quarter of job vacancies on www.goodmoves.org These services work with a range of people including those who are experiencing mental ill health or sexual violence, people in the criminal justice or asylum system and children and young people.

What is advocacy?

Advocacy ensures people:

  • feel listened to, understood and know their options
  • have their rights are upheld and voices heard
  • are involved in decision making

Advocacy are run by the charity and voluntary sector in Scotland, independent from NHS, social and local authority services, provided free and confidentially by passionate and committed staff and volunteers across the country!

To celebrate this vital area of work and promote the rewarding careers it can provide goodmoves will be holding a free webinar at 2pm on 23 April. We’ll be joined by advocacy professionals from across the sector who will share their expertise and real life experiences The session will give you the opportunity to learn more about the work of the advocacy sector, job and volunteer opportunities and different career paths!
